Finding accessible shops that can facilitate your loved one’s needs can be a hassle. Especially without easy to access information to breakdown places near you depending on their level of access.
Shopmobility
You or the person you care for may be able to use Shopmobility. Shopmobility offers equipment to make it easier to get around shops.
Shopmobility offers:
- Manual and electric wheelchairs
- Scooters
- Rollators (walking aids with seats)
- Portable hearing loops
Each scheme varies so it is important to contact the scheme you wish to visit, before you use the service. A staff member will be able to give you all the information you need.
Disabled Go
You can check out if the place you are visiting is accessible on DisabledGo. You can see access guides for a wide variety of places including restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars, parks and gardens, cafes, museums and universities.
Euan’s guide
Euan’s guide is a disabled access review website that aims to inspire people to try new places. You can search by postcode, venue or category to find places that have been reviewed and rated by visitors for their accessibility for disabled people. Venues can also add listings themselves.
Online shopping
If you find it hard to get out, either with or without the person you care for, you might find online shopping easier.
